B Corp Certified

B Corp Certified

Recognized for our commitment to people, product & the planet

We are so proud to announce that…

The Sak has been awarded a B Corp Certification!

That means we have met the highest standards in creating a positive social and environmental impact through our commitment to people, product and planet—a longstanding brand pillar.

B Corp Certification is granted by B Lab, a global nonprofit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet. To achieve the certification, companies are audited on a points system that evaluates their overall positive impact and commits them to a continuous improvement process.

Based on the B Impact assessment, The Sak has earned an overall score of 84.7—far above the median score of 50.9.

The B Corp certificate applies to both The Sak and Sakroots, two labels that fall under our corporate umbrella. Together, we form the largest U.S. handbag and accessories company to be certified.

Our efforts to becoming a certified B Corp have included:

· Raising awareness and contributions for ocean conservation in partnership with the nonprofit firm Oceana.

· Offering select vegan collections crafted from a proprietary blend of recycled REPREVE material, which has removed over 16 billion plastic bottles from the environment, repurposing the bottles into recycled fibers.

· Creating proprietary crochet materials in partnership with Plastic Bank’s recycled plastics. Plastic Bank has stopped 2 billion plastic bottles from entering the world’s oceans, while working to provide their collectors with improved benefits.

· Partnering with Leather Working Group to ensure environmental best practices throughout the supply chain.

· Employing female artisans in Bali, elevating both the individuals and the communities that produce their crochet products by paying fair wages, providing healthcare, education and increasing job opportunities.

"Sustainability has always been part of our business model from the beginning and this is a huge accomplishment and acknowledgment of those efforts," Chief Sustainability Officer Keri Talucci says. "This certification is not the finish line for us, rather it marks the next step in our ongoing commitment to the environment and better business practices."
