Keep It Simple : DIY Simple Syrup

Looking for simple syrup at your local grocery store? Save yourself the trip and money – try making it yourself! The beauty of this cocktail essential is that it is indeed, simple. You probably already have the ingredients in your cabinet, and you can easily jazz it up with some herbs or fruit for a flavor infusion. Store it your refrigerator and pull out whenever you need a cocktail or some sweetener.

What You’ll Need

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

The Breakdown

  1.  Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan and simmer over medium heat.

2. Stir occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved.

3. Once sugar is completely dissolved, allow mixture to cool and pour into a container with a tight-fitting lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 weeks.

Extra Fancy

Here’s where you can get creative and consider adding a flavor infusion! Possible additions include: rosemary, thyme, cinnamon sticks, or even rose petals. Keep in mind flavored simple syrups should be used within a week or two.

Cheers!
